Real Lobbyist Reform

What is a lobbyist? The dictionary definition is: A group of persons engaged in trying to influence legislators especially, in favor of a "special interest." A simpler example is that many of us "lobby" our spouses quite often to maybe see something our way, except we do not get paid for it. We will continue in a moment to educate in short, as much as possible, but first our solution to the outrage of our representatives in Congress being bought off everyday and selling "We the People" down the river in favor of power, greed and control.

  1. Our Campaign Finance Reform Solutions. Our solutions would solve a great deal of this problem, if not all of it. However, I'm sure many of you would agree it will be a tough road to hoe. So, we would introduce another piece of legislation.
  2. Lobbying Reform Act. No monies whether in the form of a PAC (Political Action Committee) the client, or direct contribution from any employee of a lobbying firm, and their immediate family members, or gifts, dinners, not even a cup of free coffee shall be given to and accepted by any member of Congress. Lobbyists shall only make their case for the cause they represent in either oral or written form.

Why is this so vitally important toward more ACCOUNTABILITY in Washington D.C.? Our members of Congress, both the Republicans and the Democrats, current and previous are being paid for by 35,000, K Street, D.C. lobbyists. Lobbying is a billion dollar business, and the most sought out employees for these lobbying firms are often former members of Congress. This should come as little surprise as these former representatives have "insider information" it takes to get the favors their employers require for their client. Clients, such as, Hugo Chavez, the ruthless dictator of Venezuela, is it any wonder he gets such great press and we continue to get his oil instead of drilling for our own AMERICAN oil! Clients such as the countries of Dubai and Saudi Arabia, again making sure it is their oil and not our AMERICAN oil that is drilled for. Then there are the unions, the environmentalists, the list could go on ad-infinitum! Our opponents will try to say they do not take money from these entities. Yes they do! This is done in a very sneaky way through each clients PAC and through the giant PAC's that also contribute to both the Republican National Committee and Democrat National Committee. Both these committees then give loads of money to their candidates. Folks if this alone does not make our "We the People" case as to why the "Hypocritical do as I say not as I do two party system" is broken and corrupt I don't know what will. Washington D.C. is simply untrustworthy and greedy!
